Colorado Trip 2018--Alice in Wonderland

We had a delightful visit with Mike and Desi and their family in Colorado, March 16-21, 2018

We had lunch with Mordecai at school.

Emily got her first contact lenses!

The long day of rehearsals for Ruby was broken up with lunch with grandparents, parents and little sisters.

Our trip to Colorado was supposed to be uneventful.  However the I-80 freeway was closed between Rawlins and Cheyenne because a weather caused accident outside of Laramie.  We drove out to Sinclair but were turned back.  Sinclair is where the Sinclair Refineries are located with the green dinosaur symbol.  We visited the Carbon County Museum instead of hanging around the truck stop.  The director suggested that we go up through Casper and then down to Cheyenne because those roads were clear and it was unknown how long we would be stuck in Rawlins.

We drove past Devil's Gate and Independence Rock which we visited with Katrina, Kristilyn, Julie and Melody one summer.

We saw a lot of new country in Wyoming and noticed many, many road closure signs that we had never seen before.  There was a lot of snow around Cheyenne but the roads were clear.  I-80 didn't open until 10:00 PM and was closed clear to Rock Springs.  We made a 225 mile detour and arrived safely at Mike's in eleven hours which was a good decision.

We played lots of games with Mordecai, Milly, Emily, Ruby, and Ivy.

Ivy played soccer.

Beautiful Desi with Milly.

Mike, Grandpa, and Mordecai assembled the new basketball standard.

The children were thrilled to be able to play basketball outside.

Ruby and Emily demonstrated some of the songs and dances from the musical.

It snowed about 5 inches from Sunday night into Monday.

Emily and Mordecai play the piano well.  Emily is practicing a hymn to play for Young Women.

She also has composed a couple of songs.  She and Grandpa did family history together and found a distant cousin to take to the temple.

Mike loves to play with Milly.

Ivy put all those puzzles together by herself.

Milly--almost two.  She is a clown and a chatter box.

Grandma and Grandpa Bainbridge came from Tennessee for the performance also.

 Emily was the narrator.

 Ruby was in the ensemble.
 Mordecai was King of Hearts

Milly doesn't quite know about Milly's makeup.

Milly doesn't know quite what to think of Emily's makeup.

Mordecai, Emily, and Ruby and their school put on a wonderful show!  We were very proud of their months of hard work.

More 2018 Winter Fun

We love walking by the Salt Lake Temple on our way to our mission!

Charlotte and Kate love Victoria.

Cupcakes are the best way to celebrate birthdays!

Victoria Elizabeth on her second birthday!

Funny Milly loves to lick the bowl clean as well.

Emily turned twelve and went with her mom (Desi, Young Women President) and the other youth to do baptisms for the dead in the Fort Collins Temple.

Five days later Talisa turned 12 and did family baptisms for the dead with her family in the Oquirrh Mountain Temple.

Keith, Talisa, and Kim at the temple.

Kentucky had some winter weather and Lydia, Jason, and Ethan were prepared to play.  Lydia lasted five minutes.

Lydia -

Racquetball is a favorite sport for the parents but the kids have to try it too.

Little John celebrated his birthday by coming down to visit us at Temple Square and having lunch at the COB.

It's important to walk along the ledges.

The ride in TRAX to the Planetarium was a delight.

John was eager to show his mom that he could create a tornado.

Kira and Talisa had a sleepover then we went to the Aquarium.

It was amazing to see the large marine animals swim around us.

The rope bridge was a challenge and delight.

There was also a butterfly exhibit.

Happy birthday, Keith.  What a beautiful wife he has.
