2019 December Activities

Kira is doing extremely well with her twice a week classes at Olympus Gymnastics in South Jordan.

Temple Square is beautifully lighted at Christmastime.

We love walking to the Training Zone through the lights.

The Church Office Building, Reflection Pool, and Joseph Smith Memorial Building where we serve.

The red-lighted Cedar of Lebanon is one of our favoite trees.

Lobby of the Joseph Smith Memorial Building with the red Giving Machines in the lower corner.

The COB when a storm moves in.

The Salt Lake Temple will be closed for four years for renovation.  This shows the areas that will be closed during that time.  Later other areas south of the COB will be closed for changes in the fountain and landscaping.  We park in the Conference Center.

Desi and Mike have many delightful Christmas traditions including decorating cookies.

Emily is making a chain for the tree.

We've had gorgeous sunrises!

Amelia in a dress Kristilyn made her.  Sometimes she wears dresses to school for "Fancy Friday."

Lillian is learning how to do a puzzle with her Grandpa Rogers.

John and Amelia made a fort in the sunflower room.

Eliason's new fence looks really good!

Ethan and Lydia were visiting Aunt Kristilyn and checking out the forts the cousins constructed.

James and Grant inside a fort.

James shows the things he made in his sewing class: a wallet, a key chain holder, a pillow case, a back pack, and sweat pants.

Grant made two dolls like this--one for a friend and one to keep.

Lydia was mesmerized by the statue of Christ in the Temple Square Vistors' Center.

Julie, Jason, Ethan, and Lydia on Temple Square.  The parents attended a session at the Salt Lake Temple.

 Ethan

We enjoyed seeing the various nativity scenes.

Julie and Jason met on Temple Square and were eventually married in the Salt Lake Temple by Jason's grandfather.

Jason, Julie, Lydia, Ethan, Grandma and Grandpa Rogers in the South Visitors' Center which will be removed with the renovation.

This shows the area which will be closed for four years beginning January 1, 2020.  We park in the Conference Center and serve in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building.  We won't be able to short cut across Temple Square to get to the Family History Library and Church History Museum so easily for a while.

Lillian as Mary,  Ethan as Joseph and Jason as the donkey.

The Wise Men (Grant and James) with John as the camel.

The cast of the first version with one "wise guy."

Lydia as Mary with the angel (Lillian) holding Baby Jesus.

Joseph (Jason) bring Mary (Lydia) on donkey (James) to Bethlehem.

The shepherd visits and the star (Amelia)  sparkles vigorously.

Lydia was very concerned about her baby the entire time!

We opened our Christmas Eve FHE with several songs and closed it by watching a 2000 Church video about the Nativity story in both the Old and New World.

Julie and Jason and their children stayed at our home Christmas Eve so we had the delight of Christmas morning with them.  Ethan was thrilled with his Hot Wheels race track and Lydia loved her teepee and Frozen family dolls.

Grandpa got some nice gits.

Julie, Jason, Lydia, and Ethan in West Jordan.

We visited grandchildren in Sugar House:  Amelia, Lillian, Ethan and Lydia and had brunch.

James is fascinated with the 100 point spherical maze that he first saw at Daniel's home.

Grant works on the 1500+ piece Porsche Technic with the help of James.

John is fascinated by the spherical maze.

We had a delightful visit with Kim, Keith, Kira, and Talisa.  Kira completed her Gospel in Action award this week which includes memorizing the 13 Articles of Faith.  Talisa led us in a fun group game.

Kim's Christmas tree is a work of art!

Christmas Eve for Kira, Keith, Talisa, and Kim.

Christmas Eve for Emily, Mordecai, Desi, and Mike with Ruby, Ivy, and Milly in front.
