Arizona Visit--Dec. 27, 2018-Jan. 4, 2019

We had a wonderful visit with Brandon, Melody, Charlotte, Kate, and Victoria.  Melody and the girls had two rounds of stomach flu the three weeks before we arrived and Brandon was terribly ill with strep throat for five days beginning on Christmas Eve.  He was grateful he had taken those days off from work.  Melody also contracted strep throat but received the antibiotics quickly.  The weather was very cold and many plants froze.  It only got up into the 50's the last day we were there.  Consequently we stayed close to home and enjoyed Melody's excellent cooking, went for lots of walks around the neighborhood to improve biking skills, and enjoyed games and classic Disney movies.  Victoria's favorite activity was hide-and-seek in which she would giggle the entire time she was "hiding."

The twins got bikes for Christmas.  Charlotte is learning to ride with training wheels.

Kate is enjoying riding around the new Oasis Park.

The new park even had a man-made lake.

The Thankful Tree was a charming insight into the minds of children.

Grandpa pushes Victoria in stroller.  It was really cold!

The family

Victoria didn't last long in the stroller.  She wanted to run or to have her mama carry her.

Victoria loved playing with the Nativity set under the tree.

Their orange and mandarin trees are doing well but had to be covered at night because of the below freezing temperatures.

Kate

We had two delightful evening concerts when the girls sang and danced for us.

New play dough was really a hit.

Victoria has amazing strength and coordination for a two-year-old.

Grandpa swings the girls.  Notice how empty the park is.  It was cold!

Victoria would drag her blankets, stuffed animals, etc. down to the living room.

Victoria has no fear.

Kate

Excellent parents!

Christmas morning

Grant received a ukulele and James got a trumpet.  They have been learning to play these instruments for the last year and a half and were really excited to have their own.

Grandma was delighted to receive a new set of  scriptures but even more appreciative and grateful for the testimonies of all of the children and several of the grandchildren.  Christmas really is about remembering the Savior, Jesus Christ!

John and Lillian are thrilled with their stuffed animals.
