Elaine Marvel Mack Whitlock, of Lehi, Utah, was reunited with her sweetheart on
Valentine's Day, February 14, 2019. She passed away at her home in Lehi, Utah
and is now enjoying a wonderful reunion with her husband, Morris Clyde
Whitlock; her daughter, Pamela Dee Nelson and her husband J. Ronald Nelson; her
parents, Atrilla Miles Mack and Ruby Bertha Schillo; and a sister, Alice
Jorgensen. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter and two
great-grandsons. Elaine was born on September 19, 1918 in Ogden, Utah. She
reached the milestone of 100 years last September.
Elaine was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-Day Saints. She and Morris were married in the Manti Temple on September
5, 1941. Throughout her life she served in numerous callings in the church. She
served four missions including a mission to the Central States in her younger
years. Her other three missions were served with her dear husband including:
Directors of the Visitor's Center at Liberty Jail, service in the Provo Utah
Mission office, and 22 years at the church camp at Maple Dell in American Fork
Canyon. Elaine is well remembered by patrons at the camp as "the
ninety-year-old woman riding around on the four-wheeler."
Elaine also served by the side of her husband as he performed his duties as a Stake Patriarch. Mom was with him for nearly all of the over 1500 blessings given.
Sewing, quilting, crochet, and knitting were all passions for Elaine. She loved doing crafts. She had a wonderful singing voice and encouraged her children to sing. She was a member of the Southern California Mormon Choir for many years, and often sang with Morris in church or at funeral services. She loved the outdoors, especially camping and fishing. She took pride in claiming that she was the better fisherman than Morris. In her later years, she enjoyed playing games, reading, and going to the theater. Even up to two weeks before her passing, she was eager to go out for any activity. She said that the secret to her longevity was staying active and serving others.
Elaine is survived by two sons, Randall M. Whitlock (Launa) and M. Brent Whitlock (Tammy). Also, two sisters, June Walker and Marilyn Raymer, both of Riverside California, survive her. She has 12 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at 11:00 AM in the Jordan Willows Stake Center at 2161 West Grays Drive, Lehi, Utah. A viewing will be held Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Anderson & Sons Mortuary, 49 East 100 North, American Fork and Wednesday from 9:45 to 10:45 AM at the church prior to the services.
