2023 Huge storm day--Salt Lake Valley and AZ

Starting February 22 in the evening and snowing all day February 23, we received over a foot of heavy snow at our home.  Schools were put on online learning and the Jordan River Temple was closed for two days.  The mountains have received over 500 inches of snow so far this year.

John had cleared 4 inches from the driveway Tuesday night but it just kept coming all day Wednesday.

The snow stacks were over four feet high.

Wednesday it was hard work for us just to clear the path for one car to get out.

The sun came out on Thursday but it never got above freezing and there was two inches of ice on the road.  The temple was also closed that day.  John cleared more of the driveway so we could get the silver car out also.

Keith and Kim's back porch was plastered with snow.

Mark and Kristilyn had to dig out their  car early in the morning so Mark could get to the clinic for his  work.

There were messages and pictures from all of the family.  Melody shared this experience of the tumbleweed invasion from the green field across the street.  They will throw the tumbleweeds back over the fence so the HOA will take care of them.

Charlotte and Kate are amazed at the strong winds and hail that blew all the tumbleweeds into their yard for the second time in a week.

Melody was supposed to go home Tuesday morning, January 31st but then the ice storm hit and all the roads closed down and airline flights were cancelled.

Tuesday was a safe, happy day for everyone at home.  Jason works from home so it was good.

This is a chunk of ice Ethan took off the trampoline.

Wednesday was a frightening day for Melody.  There were only three flights from Dallas to Phoenix so she ordered an Uber which was an hour late arriving because of the ice.  It took an hour to get out of the subdivision onto the toll road because of the several inches of ice.  Security was crowded and delayed but they held her plane for her.  She arrived safely home to sunny, warm weather.  However, that night she became very ill and Julie also became very ill.

Sarah hadn't been feeling well but was soon back to her chipper self.  She and Spencer love their scooters and sliders.
Nap time sometimes becomes story time as Sarah reads to Spencer and he plays with his cars.
