We’ve had a good week. John finished his second week in the training zone teaching entirely in Spanish and was pleased to be able to arrange for the sister to be sealed to her parents and to have temple work be done for grandparents. He knew it was a gift of the spirit that he was able to speak to freely in Spanish. Sunday at the ward meetinghouse, he visited with a new convert, Brother De la Rosa, and was thrilled to learn he is now the ward mission leader. John was his first home teaching companion and we saw their family sealed in the temple. John was thrilled that he easily understood all the Brother De la Rosa told him in Spanish because of the two weeks of teaching in Spanish. Because the Training Zone had such a large group this month, John will also be teaching a full time missionary for the next two weeks beginning today.
Katrina, Daniel, and Anna drove down from Rexburg last Sunday and stayed overnight here in West Jordan. Their Primary president made the trip with them to help and a man from their ward whose wife just delivered triplets at the University hospital went home with them because he had to be back to work. Yesterday was their Primary program and their ward was reconfigured—four wards became five. Anna had good visits with the doctors and got her prescriptions renewed and a referral to a muscle specialist. At times she has a tremor in her arms and they are considering that one skilled in muscular dystrophy would be helpful. She continues to grow well as her arms and legs lengthen so she is more like a toddler in form. She is a sweetheart. Daniel is full of energy and excitement. He had lots of fun playing with James and Grant on Monday. He attends Kindergarten in the afternoon. Fortunately Monday was a teacher preparation day so he could make the trip.
We were delighted with the blog entries from Brandon and Melody. We are happy that they are getting to do and see fun things. We are excited that Melody will be here in Utah in October.
Julie and Brandon are going to St. George and Zion’s National Park the latter part of this week. It will be wonderful for them to get away together because they are working so hard.
Keith and Kim are going to Hawaii next week. They invited us for a yummy dinner Sunday evening and showed us where Talisa will have swimming, dancing, and piano lessons while they are gone. She will be off-track from Kindergarten but still have fun things to do. Little Kira is so cute! Kathy and Scott stopped by so it was nice to coordinate with them. They will tend the girls on the weekends and we’ll have them during the week. Keith has a really nice garden. The corn and tomatoes were absolutely delicious.
We loved the cute picture of Emily, Mordecai, and Ruby! I was especially happy to have it to show to visitors.
I spent most of the week with Kristilyn. The girls are growing well. When they were weighed at the doctor’s office on Thursday at a month old they had each gained about two pounds from their birth weight. Lillian now weighs 6 pounds 14 ounces and Amelia weighs 7 pounds 7 ounces. Mark’s sister Kristen flew in from Seattle on Wednesday so she could go with Mark and the boys to Sun Valley Thursday through Saturday. Mark is president of the Intermountain Dermatology Association and this is their annual conference for which he is responsible. Mark also had a high council talk to give on Sunday. While they were in Idaho, Kristilyn and the babies came to West Jordan. Friday evening Edie DuPaix came to see the babies and later Karen and Tiffany Keetch also visited. Tiffany is expecting her baby girl, Avery Anne, in about ten days. Edie will be going to Canada to help Angi with her new baby girl, Quinn Avery, on October 8. It was a fun to show them our completed home improvements. Brent Wade has done a beautiful job. Though Kristilyn didn’t get to Sun Valley, she had a change of pace in West Jordan visiting with family. I’ll be spending this next week with Kristilyn again and will take Kristen to the airport this afternoon. James and Grant love to go to the airport because they can ride the elevator, the moving sidewalks, and the escalator and watch the baggage claim. They are fascinated with any kind of machinery.
