Dennis Lee Smith (1941-2016)


BRIGHAM CITY—Dennis Lee Smith, 74, passed away early on Saturday, April 16, 2016, after suffering the effects of cardiac arrest. Dennis was born on December 28, 1941, in St. Joseph, Missouri to Harold James Smith and Dorothea Juanita Miller Smith. He married his sweetheart Mary Kathleen Rogers on December 21, 1968 in the Manti LDS Temple.

Dennis was a US Air Force veteran, a BYU graduate, and a mechanical engineer for the Space Shuttle program with Thiokol. He served a mission in the Eastern Atlantic States and was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Surviving are his wife, Kathie Smith, and his children: Marilee, Christopher, Douglas (Tracy), and Kevin (Candice), 13 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren; he is also survived by his brother, Stephen Thomas Smith.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Brigham City 24th Ward, 650 Anderson Drive, Brigham City, UT.  Viewing for family and friends will be Tuesday, April 19 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Myers Mortuary, 205 S. 100 E., Brigham City, UT, and on Wednesday April 20 from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the Church. 

Interment in the Brigham City Cemetery with military honors accorded.
