Emily's Baptism and Colorado Trip - 2014

Emily Jean was baptized and confirmed on Saturday, March 1, 2014 by her father.  In the circle for her confirmation were her two grandfathers, two uncles, and special friends from the ward.  It was a wonderful occasion.
John and Kathryn Ann drove to Colorado on Friday, February 28.  Desi's parents from Tennessee, sister Cherstin's family from Oklahoma, and sister Felicia's family from Wyoming arrived earlier in the day.  Friday night we went to dinner at Chili's Restaurant to celebrate Tom's birthday.  Picture is of Desi, Ivy, Mordecai, Ruby and Mike while we waited for reservations for the 23 of us.  The most exciting part of the night for Mordecai was when he lost his first tooth!
Mike is taking Ivy to bed.

Waiting for the baptism--Grandma is thrilled to have grandchildren on her lap.  Note Mordecai's smile!

We were blessed with good travel weather on Friday and Monday but Saturday there was a bad snowstorm which caused an 104 car accident near our hotel.  Even with the cold (6 or 7 degrees) and snow we all traveled safely.  This was another tender mercy.

It was a joy to hear Chestin on the violin, Karen on the piano,  and Desi on the flute prepare a special music number for church.  They are excellent  musicians.

One of the few quiet moments for Ruby.  She was especially fond of Grandpa Rogers and was playing with him most of the time.

Abby and Emily really enjoyed each other.  Abby will be eight in May.  Their family is moving to Alaska for 4 years with the Air Force.

Ivy is a beautiful little girl.  She is about 16 months and is wearing 12 month clothes.

After the baptism and confirmation on Saturday morning we all returned home for a pizza.  In the afternoon we had a pinata.

Most of the children wanted to pull up on the bar and Mike helped them.  He also did a lot of pull-ups then several flips in and out  (shooting the moon?).  He is really strong.

Sunday afternoon we did Face Time with Julie, Jason, and Ethan  in Kentucky who had their church cancelled again because of the terrible storm.  You can see Ruby's delight!

Mike has redone the master bath.  The shower is oversize with two shower heads.  They got a new garden tub and repositioned it.  They are putting on  the finishing touches along with a new vanity and commode.  Mike's construction and building skills and Desi's decorating ability are used beautifully in their lovely home.

Karen and Rich Bainbridge from Tennessee.  How we appreciate all the parents who raised the wonderful people who our children married!  We are blessed with their friendship.

Sunday night Karen Bainbridge, Primary chorister, did fun music activities with the children

A hit of the night was the bells which were used to play several Primary songs.  Her set even included the accidentals for sharps and flats so any song could be used.

Mike and Desi were gracious hosts making the trip delightful and special for us.  We enjoy the time we spend with them and their family.
