Getting Answers

Last week while working with my student, she desired to do the temple work for her half-brother who died about age 15 and had Down’s Syndrome. His biological parents were divorced and sealed to other people. Everyone is now dead. The question went to Elder Kucher, our zone leader, to the mission president (a former temple president), and then to the First Presidency. The answer came within the hour! The young man's work is to be done. He may not have been accountable in life but he was over eight years of age. He may be sealed to which ever set of parents my student chooses because she is the closest relative and he can make the choice for himself. He could even be sealed to more than one set of parents. We were told to put a note in NewFamilySearch that the instruction came from the First Presidency in this situation. It is remarkable to be in a situation where sensitive issues are dealt with quickly and with authority! We love working in the Training Zone.
