Dearest Family,
What an wonderful week it has been! We are so pleased with the news that Keith has found new employment with Recon in Sandy, Utah. It is a blessing that he will be doing something he enjoys, that it is close to his home, that things worked out so quickly so Keith and Kim could go on their cruise next week, and especially that Keith was able to find another position so quickly while he still was working for Microsoft in this difficult economy. We hope that they have a wonderful time. Kim's mom will tend the girls the first couple of days then Julie will care for them the rest of the time. Jason has all-day seminary training every day next week but will stay overnight with them.
It was fun to talk with Mike, Emily, and Mordecai on Tuesday evening. The little ones are growing up so quickly. We're excited to have all of you here in July. We hope that Neal had a good trip in Canada and that he is home safely. We look forward to hearning his news. Melody and Brandon are looking forward to moving into their new home the first of July. Kristilyn and Julie are planning fun things for our family reunion in Bear Lake.
Saturday we had a meeting at Karen's to plan the Whitlock Reunion in July and share extended family news. In George's family, Paige, Rebecca and Brent's daughter who just finished her first year at UVU, is getting married in September and they are very pleased with her fiance. She got engaged at Lake Powell over Memorial Day. GT and his family have leased their home for a year and moved to Playa del Carmen near Cancun, Mexico. Bill graduated from Snow this spring and will attended the university in Cedar City in the fall.
Karen and Richard have taken the wooden deck off the back of their home and will be pouring cement on Monday for steps down from their two back doors and a large patio. They will put an awning over the area for shade. Justin Keetch and Danny DuPaix graduated from the U of U this Spinrg. Karen's school has gone from a year-round to traditional schedule because of budget problems. Karen plans to teach two more years. She likes her team and they will be able to plan easier with everyone there all the time and no one will have to rotate classrooms. However, they will have large classes.
Edie and Roger are going on Trek to Martin's Cove with their stake as the "Ma and Pa" of a group. I was concerned about Roger's age and hip replacements and Edie replied, "Roger would never complain!" Later Edie will also go to Girls' Camp with Maddie because she is in the ward YW presidency. Sarah graduated in Music Therapy from Utah State and has an internship. Sarah and Stephen are home for the summer but Becca is still up in Logan. Danny and Becky had a beautiful baby girl, Lyla Rebecca, this past week which makes a boy and girl for them. Debbie and Christian have moved to a home in Edie's ward. Angi and Kyle are planning to come from Canada. Joe and Monica's family are coming from Maryland because her parents have been called to a 23-month mission to Turkey and Joe and Monica want to see them before they leave. In fact, all of Edie's family will be here some time in July but not at the same time.
Uncle Morris, Aunt Elaine, and Brent have moved to 143 South 1790 West #1, Lehi, Utah, 84043. All the arrangements aren't finalized but things look like they will work out. Morris and Elaine's new telephone number is 801-768-8560. There were lots of people there to help them with the move on Memorial Day but there are still boxes left to sort through. Pam has been there for a couple of weeks to help them downsize. Uncle Morris is 93 and became an "inactive patriarch" a few months ago. He has been a patriarch for 39 years. Morris and Elaine continue to work at the Dell. What remarkable people they are!
As for neighborhood news, Glennis Williams died this week after suffering with Alzheimer's for 20 years. What a tender mercy that she looked very young and totally at peace in her casket. Her black hair is now white but she looked like "Sleeping Beauty." We visited with her children and they asked about you.
On our side of the street Benches, Standings, and the next house have removed their big old pine trees this week. The trees were taken out of the old Stieneke yard a few weeks ago. It certainly makes the street look different. There was an oil spill in Red Butte Creek which made its way down to LIberty Park so here in Utah we are learning firsthand about the trouble they are having in the Gulf of Mexico with the huge underground oil spill. Earlier this week there was some flooding along Little Cottonwood Creek so they had to sandbag. It wasn't as serious as 1983 but it was a problem for a few days. The weather is crazy.
Neighbors and friends are delightful companions that come into our lives to bless us for a time but family relationships endure through eternity. We are so very grateful for every one of you, our family. We are grateful for your faithfulness, your consideration, and your service to one another and to those around you. We feel honored to be related to you!
